èßäAV biological sciences instructor and STEM Division Chair Dr. Jeffrey Sekavec is among an elite group of 26 professionals worldwide accepted into the Harvard Medical School Senior Life Sciences Leaders Program.

The 32-week executive program draws participants from across the globe, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. Members represent universities, health care organizations, companies, and government agencies, all working in various sectors of the life sciences.

Sekavec’s cohort began in April. The program is designed to prepare senior leaders in the life sciences to apply cutting-edge technology and innovation at the executive level. It includes weekly live online sessions, leadership self-study exercises, and a capstone project designed to address challenges within their own organizations. The program concludes with a multi-day, in-person session at Harvard.

Participants explore strategies for clinical development leadership, digital integration in research, and the impact of artificial intelligence on the life sciences. The curriculum also addresses leadership development, organizational adaptability, and frameworks for implementing emerging technologies.

Sekavec, who first team-taught at Colby as an adjunct in 2006 with the late Dr. Max Pickerill, returned in 2017 as a full-time instructor of various life sciences courses. He also serves as coordinator of the emergency response team.

Beyond his institutional responsibilities, he has worked as a bioterrorism and biological event management consultant since 2014, collaborating with select government agencies on training and response efforts.

Sekavec holds an Associate of Science in Chemistry from CCC, a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Bethany College, a Master of Science in Microbiology from Fort Hays State University, and a Doctor of Management in Homeland Security from Colorado Technical University.
